The Harbour Bar
The Harbour Bar is one of the most well known, oldest and storied bars in Ireland. Over the last century, the bar has been home to a who¢ï¿½ï¿½s who of both an international and national assortment of writers, film makers, actors and musicians. The likes of Brendan Behan, Peter O¢ï¿½ï¿½Toole, Neil Jordan, Lawrence Oliver, Katherine Hepburn to U2, Bono, Sinead O¢ï¿½ï¿½Conner, Def Leopard, Mary Coughlin, Shane MacGowan, Jim Sheridan, Colin Farrell and Irish artist Rasher to just name a few of the regulars. This third generation, traditional, family run pub has been in the O¢ï¿½ï¿½Toole family since 1931. The bar itself dates back to the mid 1800¢ï¿½ï¿½s.The Harbour Bar offers a truly authentic Irish pub experience as an antidote to the sterile atmosphere of some modern pubs (in the same tradition as Doheny & Nesbitts,Toners and O`Donoghues in Dublin). There is a traditional Irish band every week playing in the bar on Thursday and Saturday night¢ï¿½ï¿½s from 10pm. The bar is the perfect venue for this type of event, with a diverse crowd, its original antiques and interesting brick-a-brac, accumulated over 80 years, by 3 generations of the O¢ï¿½ï¿½Toole family! We also have a welcoming open fire burning in the winter ¢ï¿½ï¿½ surely there couldn¢ï¿½ï¿½t be a more enjoyable way to spend an evening than in such a cosy setting with a pint of Guinness or a Hot Whiskey or two?
